Who is Advent Advocacy

Advent Advocacy started in 2007 as part of a growing sector providing access to mental health advocacy for everyone in need of it. Since then, our organisation has developed year on year as services and their users have continued to appreciate the quality of advocacy delivered.

Our client base has grown alongside our reputation.

Advent Advocacy provides a quality assured nationwide advocacy service offering a full range of statutory and non-statutory advocacy.

Our Values

Person first, diagnosis second. All our advocates enjoy spending time with people, getting to know them as individuals. We advocate for our clients in a truly person-centred manner.

Fundamental to our work with individuals is our non-adversarial approach. We listen and support without judgment or prejudice. We encourage individuals’ independence promoting self-advocacy and cohesiveness in a safe environment.

Our Service Model

To hear the individual and help them tell their unique story. We help people access support where it is most needed to improve their quality of life.

We’re Flexible

Advent Advocacy is a nationwide organisation with a centralised management team. Our service model is designed to meet the needs of each organisation and individual setting, offering flexible advocacy, with the ability to adapt to different settings and environments.

We’re Accountable

We provide a quantitative and qualitative record of activities to ensure comprehensive feedback to service providers and commissioners. We create monthly and quarterly reports demonstrating our impact and identify trends and areas of need.

We’re Quality Assured

Advent Advocacy is proud to hold the Quality Performance Mark, awarded by the National Development Team for Inclusion. The award demonstrates ongoing commitment to providing the highest level of service, informed by appraisal and satisfaction data from both service users and providers.

Our Advocates

Independent Advocates trained by Advent Advocacy deliver the highest standards of advocacy. They each receive induction training, and complete specialist modules, for example the City and Guilds’ IMHA and IMCA qualifications. They receive regular supervision from a member of the team with recent and relevant experience across the mental health sector.

Our team of Independent Advocates are permanent members of staff – Advent Advocacy will not deploy volunteers or agency workers.
