Advent Advocacy’s IMHAs have undertaken the City & Guilds Independent Mental Health Advocacy qualification. We are specialist advocates who provide a statutory service to qualifying patients under the Mental Health Act 1983.

About Advent Advocacy

Providing a quality assured nationwide advocacy service since 2007, Advent Advocacy provides a full range of statutory and non-statutory advocacy services including Independent Mental Health Advocacy (IMHA), Independent Mental Capacity Advocacy (IMCA), Care Act Advocacy, Paid Relevant Person’s Representative advocacy (PRPR), Children and Young People’s Advocacy, Generic Advocacy and Non-Instructed Advocacy.

We work with people in hospital, care home and residential settings. We also work with people living in the community.

Advent Advocacy also provides independent mental health and wellbeing advocacy in universities, schools and colleges. We are able to work with businesses and other organisations to support wellbeing and mental health in the workplace.

Our response to COVID-19

The team here at Advent Advocacy know how unsettling this time is and how destabilising it has been for many. We want to offer our support wherever we can and have been working hard to ensure this happens for all. Whether you are in a hospital, residential, educational, or workplace setting we will be there for you.

The safety of the people we advocate for and of our team is paramount to us. Our staff are working safely from their homes to ensure that we still provide you with the advocacy service you need. We are monitoring the COVID-19 situation daily and where it is safe to do so some face to face visits may continue.

It is important to us that we stay connected to the people we advocate for and we have successfully rolled out our remote service nationally to ensure this happens. The fact that we have operated this alongside our standard face to face service for a number of years has allowed for a smooth transition from our usual face to face service to a remote one.
