Providing a quality assured nationwide advocacy service and advocacy work since 2007, Advent Advocacy provides a full range of advocacy services including Independent Mental Health Advocacy (IMHA), Independent Mental Capacity Advocacy (IMCA), Care Act Advocacy, Relevant Person’s Representative advocacy (RPR), Children and Young Person’s Advocacy, Generic Advocacy and Non-Instructed Advocacy.
We provide a non-adversarial approach. We believe an adversarial approach can be detrimental to the therapeutic alliances which the service users and service providers have developed. We offer an equitable service that is without judgment or prejudice and this enables the service user to continue to work with the care team, thus facilitating independence, self-advocacy and cohesiveness in a safe environment.
Along with our ethos of a non-adversarial approach, we work with service users, commissioners and service providers to offer a truly flexible advocacy service that adapts to the environment we are working in.
We are a quality assured service, committed to attaining and maintaining the highest level of service provision, encouraging regular and ongoing appraisal and satisfaction data from both service users and providers.
Our team ethos is simple: Person first, diagnosis second. We enjoy spending time with people, getting to know them as individuals with a past, a present and a future. We know this helps us advocate for our clients in a truly person centred manner. We have unconditional positive regard for the people we work for and work with.
We provide a quantitative recording of activities to ensure comprehensive feedback to service users, service providers and commissioners. We have established extensive reporting structures, which enable us to record our activities and identify trends and areas of need.
We deliver a service which is underpinned by the National Service Framework for Mental Health, the Department of Health’s publication ‘Valuing People Now’ and the Advocacy Charter.
Advent Advocacy has multiple citations in inspection reports completed by external auditors, which acknowledge the quality of our advocacy service. Advent Advocacy is proud to hold the Quality Performance Mark awarded by the National Development Team for Inclusion.
We have advocates located across the country and specialise in providing local advocates in any geographical location.
Advent Advocacy prides itself on the careful selection and recruitment of our staff team.
Our staff team has extensive experience and in-depth knowledge of working in healthcare environments. Our advocates combine academic excellence, including higher degrees, with applied practice and professional qualifications, for example the IMHA and IMCA qualifications.
Leadership, training, reflective practice and supervision is provided by a team with vast experience which includes Psychiatrists, Counsellors, Senior Mental Health Practitioners, Social Care Workers and experienced Senior Practicing Advocates.
